Blackwater news; all the latest from BFC

3rd May 2017

Well, a very long overdue update.  the season is now over, we won our appeal against a voided match so we finish the league in 3rd place which is a great effort, from new manager Greg and Ben's first season in charge. We finished strongly with wins over league winners elect William de Ferrers res 1-0 who completed the double in our division, Queens Park Hannikins 5-1 and Broomfield away 4 nil.

We are going full steam into next year with some confidence and hopefully a fairly injury free season as its really hit us hard this year.

I'd like to thank our sponsors, DS engineering and the Balti Bhujon for your support this year and the Heybridge Inn for your continued refreshment and valued sponsorship of the referees, a warm welcome every Sunday and whenever we pop in during the week.  Thanks Pat and Keith!

As with all teams, we need fresh sponsorship next year so please come forward and help us out.

9th October 2016

Well, an update is long overdue.

A nice start to the season has seen progress made in the county cup after winning the first round against Great Clacton FC 4-0.  We have had mixed fortunes in the league with 1 loss, 3-1 away to Margaretting and wins against Chelmer Athletic 13-2 and a 2-0 win against new side Ravens.

18 July 2016

It's been a while since an update but as pre-seaqson is in full swing, it needs a update on squad and club activity.

The new management team is in place and woprking well, Greg Fielding is the new gaffer assisted by former captain and long serving player Ben Gribble.  Paul Wade is the new captain of the club.  We have had several new players join the hard pre season training sessions as the players build on there fitness and it will get even tougher!!

The first of the friendlies are booked in; We host Mundon Vics in the first game on the 31st July 2016 at our new home, the Plume School astro turf. This is a annual match and always a fiercely contested 'friendly'.  We host South Woodham on the 28th August at 10.30 am.

Trials are still going on for those wishing to join.  Application to blackwaterfc@yahoo.co.uk please.

The annual awards took place and the winners were:

Managers Player of the Year Simon Clarke

Players Player of the Year Matthew Willis

Top goalscorer was also Matthew Willis

Clubman of the Year was Paul Wade.

Well done to you all.

20 March 2016

It's been a long time since the site was updated, sorry about that. Some big news happened recently in that our manager Mick Lappage decided to leave the club after some mixed results and performances.  We would like to thank Mick for his efforts in bringing the club to fruition and promotion in it's young life.

We have a new management team, Paul Wade and Ollie Webster are the new management team.  We wish them well and they have the support and backing of the team and the chairman and myself.

Staying in division 3 is the prime achievement this season.  We made it to the semi final of the league cup and quarter final of the Gillott Trophy, losing in extra time 3-2.  2 teams from our league have folded so at the time of writing this, we have 3 games left.  We find ourselves 3rd from bottom and play the team above us shortly.

Today we hosted top of the table Stones at Plantation hall.  We really needed a better performance and a win to boost our chances of survival.  A sprited performance and a good game saw us share the spoils and draw 2-2.

We have had a mixed season, one that was harder than we thought but has taught us some very important lessons; the step up in division is a step up in quality although most of the games we have played, have been very small margins between winning and drawing.  we have also drawn a lot of games.  Onwards and upwards.

We are already planning for next season and will be scouting for new players to improve our team so if you want to join us, send us an email to blackwaterfc@yahoo.co.uk.

Squad News:

Nick Lappage has transferred to Hatfield Swann Inn.

Scott Harber and Jack Donoghue have returned once again.

Jakob Payne has left the club

Jamie Forrest has also left the club due to work committments and moving to west london.  However, he will play for us when he returns on the occasional weekend.

22nd November 2015

After a long journey for some of the lads, this mornings game at Marden Ash was called off by the groundsman because he didn't want the pitch ruined for the rest of the season.  According to our lads, it was boggy in one place. Dissapointing knowing that worse weather is to come! Thank god the plantation hall pitch is pucka!  Next week we face Stones in the Dengie derby for the first time away. See you all then hopefully!

15th November 2015

It's been an eventful 3 weeks since my last update.

We played Hatfield Swann inn on the 2nd and lost 5-0 away.  well beaten by a good side.

On the 9th we played Priory Sports res and played very well in an even match.  Good finishing by Priory ended with a 3-1 defeat at home but our play warranted more. OC was on the score sheet with a tap in from 6 yards out.

This sunday we played Margaretting in the league cup quarter finals and ended with a 7-0 win.  We played well in testing conditions and kept the ball firmly on the ground, an act that the gaffer has been drilling into the lads for weeks.  OC and Connor scored a brace each and Matt Willis scored a hattrick.

25 October 2015

Sorry for the update delays, it's been a few weeks away for me.

The season is well and truely under way and we have played 6 league games, winning 4, drawing on and losing 1.  We layed in the Essex County Cup today and unfortunately couldn't emulate last seasons cup final appearance as we lost 5-3 to a good fox and fiddler team from Colchester.   Goals were scored by OC (2) and Matt Willis.

However, we find ourselves in second place in this tough new league and look forward to playing to of the best teams over the next 2 weeks, Hatfield Swann Inn and Priory Sports Res.  This will provide a stern test for us.  let's hope we do well.  COYB!!!!!

13th September 2015

Well, after a long pre-season with mixed results and inbedding new players, we got under way in the league campaign today after last weekends away game with Margaretting was jeopardised buy a village fete that overtook the field!

We made our first game at home to M&G and it was definately the first game.  tired legs and some poor passing didn;t help, but overall we dominated and played some good football in patches, but also some poor football as well.  However, we got off to a great start with a 2-0 win.  The first goal was scored by Simon Clarke who poked home from 6 yards in the first few minutes of the game, but the 2nd by sam Page was a wonderful solo effort, beating 2 players on his way to sliding it confidently under the keeper to make the nerves settle and take the fight from the spirited M&G side. Andy O'Connor was up top on his own and showed endeavour and some good touches and movement but likes to play with someone, but might have scored on another day.  Andy Nicholls produced some excellent saves at 1-0 at the other end.

The squad additions got a good run out and the squad is looking very good.  Alkl in all, a good day at the office.

Next week sees us take an away trip to Broomfield Res in what will be a test for the boys.  This will be Broomfields first game of the season.  Kick off 10.30am at Mill Lane, Broomfield.  The week after is away to Woodham radars at South Woodham Ferrers.
